Welcome to the OMPS Preschool

The OMPS Preschool Program aligns with the core operational and learning principles of Old Mission Peninsula School, in an environment of respect, responsibility, courage, and kindness.

Classrooms

Preschool Classroom 1

Ages 3 - 4 year olds
Preschool 1 uses a play based curriculum emphasizing in learning socialization. This curriculum is flexible, focusing on developing basic skills such as sharing, following directions, and developing fines and gross motor skills. Preschool 1 has a less structured day with a lot of free play activities designed to foster social and emotional development.

Preschool Classroom 2

Ages 4 - 5 year olds
Preschool 2 has a more structured curriculum aimed to prepare children for the academic and social demands for Kindergarten or school aged programs. This includes more emphasis on literacy, numeracy, and other foundational academic skills. Students follow a routine and have a greater focus on group activities geared to prepare them for the next steps leading to Kindergarten preparedness.

The OMPS Preschool is designed to foster connection with children's eagerness and readiness to learn and promote the social-emotional development of each child so that each child has the opportunity to develop mental, social and physical capacity and skills that will serve them well as they grow into their childhood and future adulthood.

The OMPS classrooms are designed to be a warm, engaging and safe space to learn and grow. Preschool activities will include regular play, exploration and learning opportunities within the extensive outdoor campus available at Old Mission. Our preschool uses The Creative Curriculum, which "empowers children to be confident, creative and caring learners through play-based, hands-on investigations" and is "a research-based approach that incorporates language, literacy, and mathematics" throughout the day.
