Student Handbook 2023/24
Open Enrollment Period (for 2024/25 school year) begins on September 5, 2023, and closes on February 29, 2024. If a lottery is needed for any given grade, the lottery will occur in early March 2024. Please note that applications for new students continue to be accepted after the February 29, 2024 period and these students are either accepted into a class that has available space, or wait listed in the order of receipt if a class is full.

Open enrollment occurs annually. Class sizes are limited, which sometimes means students new to the school may be put into a lottery if there are more applicants than spots available in particular grades at the close of the Open Enrollment Period. When a lottery is necessary, applicants are randomly drawn and the remaining applicants will be randomly selected to be placed on a wait list for the particular grade. New students must complete the Enrollment Application.
Applications for new students and re-enrolling students are available in the following locations:
  • At the OMPS school office (2699 Island View Road)
  • Online School Forms
  • Completed applications (required for each individual student) will be accepted via email at [email protected], or through postal service, or in person at:

The governing authority of each community school and any operator of such school shall distribute to parents of the school upon their enrollment in the school the following statement in writing:

Old Mission Peninsula School is a community school which opened fall of 2018 under the revised school code of Michigan. The school is a public school and students enrolled in and attending the school are required to take proficiency tests and other examinations prescribed by law. In addition, there may be other requirements for students at the school that are prescribed by law. Students who have been excused from the compulsory attendance law for the purpose of home education as defined by the Administrative Code shall no longer be excused for that purpose upon their enrollment in a community school. For more information about this matter, contact the school administration at [email protected], 231.252.0225, or the Michigan Department of Education.
